New Business Spotlight – A Love for Local Brings Dame Fine Coffee to Chillicothe
Josiah and Hannah Chatterton live on their grandfather’s farmland outside Canton with their blue heeler, Arco. Along with this new Dame Fine venture, Josiah and Hannah run The Forgottonia Times, a monthly newspaper that covers Fulton, Knox, Warren, and McDonough counties. They started this with the goal to tell the kinds of stories that often get overlooked—stories that make this area of Illinois unique and make the people proud of where they live. “Forgottonia” is a reminder that our small towns have a lot worth noticing.
That same love for local is what brought the couple to Chillicothe. Sure, it’s close enough to Peoria to feel like a suburb, but it’s not. Chillicothe has its own personality—it supports local businesses, cheers on the little guy, and maintains its own sense of community. When the right building opened up, everything just clicked, and they knew this was where their shop needed to be. They have felt extremely welcome by the generosity and excitement of the community and look forward to returning that same love over the years to come.
They are opening the very first Dame Fine Coffee franchise, a brand started by Dillan and Alyssa Vancil (DAME comes from their family’s names—Dillan, Alyssa, and their two boys Mason, and Easton). The name is just an acronym, however, the drinks truly are “Dame Fine.” Dillan has opened several shops in the area, and from the start, they saw how much he cared—not just about great coffee and service, but about creating a workplace people actually enjoy. That was important to Josiah and Hannah.
The goal of Dame Fine Coffee of Chillicothe is simple: serve a delicious drink, do it quickly, and send people off with a smile. Whether it’s your morning coffee or an energy drink on a busy day, we want to set you off on the right foot.
