IVC Ghost Post

Here is a recap of October’s events at IVCHS…
Highlights of October included meeting and learning with the GAPP students from Koblenz, Germany. The German students thoroughly enjoyed their time in Chillicothe, Illinois, and IVC German students look forward to their visit to Germany this coming summer.

As of this writing, IVC’s own Grey Ghost mascot was up for WMBD Central Illinois Mascot Challenge’s final round of voting. IVCHS students celebrated this honor with a pep rally at the end of the school day on Wednesday, October 15th as WMBD news crew filmed the IVC Grey Ghost in action. Final voting ended on Friday, October 17th at 3:00 p.m. Was the IVC Grey Ghost be voted the #1 school mascot in central Illinois?  IVC Grey Ghost vs. Farmington Farmers…and the winner is…. Thank you to everyone in the community who supported and voted for the IVC Grey Ghost in this competition!

Here is what is happening on the IVC scene this November…
From Wednesday, November 5th - Saturday, November 8, 2025 IVC seniors will have the opportunity to participate in the Fall 2025 Senior Retreat. During this same week, students from IVC’s Theater Department will perform in the fall play Thursday evening, November 6th and Friday evening, November 7th. 

On Saturday, November 22nd, the IVC Marching Band will perform in the Chillicothe Christmas Parade. Everyone can also experience the Nikolauslauf 5K and Fun Walk that morning with Nikolausmarkt shopping following from 11am - 6pm.

IVC students will enjoy a nice, long Thanksgiving break from Wednesday, November 26th - Sunday, November 30th. Monday, December 1st will begin the three week push for students to do their best and earn credits before the end of the first semester. 

Once again, IVCHS thanks our Chillicothe community for your continued support of our sports and activities. It is that time of year when fall sports are wrapping up their seasons and winter sports are gearing up for their games and meets. To access schedules for sporting events and activities, please see the IVC district website: www.ivcschools.com and select your student’s school and calendar to view the many events that are scheduled through the month of November. To view sporting events, click the “More” button in the upper right corner of the IVCHS webpage and then click the “Athletics” button to view the calendar of daily and upcoming competitions. Go Ghosts!
