Each year, the Chillicothe Optimist Club gives out a Friend of Youth Award. This award recognizes and celebrates individuals who have made outstanding efforts to support and mentor youths in their community. This year, the recipient of this award was presented to Brent Ressler. Brent founded the Crossword Cafe in 2001. This cafe is a faith-based place that serves kids from Chillicothe and the surrounding areas. The Cafe in downtown Chillicothe is a safe place for kids to come and hang out, talk, play games, get tutored, take music lessons, or have a meal, all at no cost. Kids from 6th-12th grades are welcome to drop in during open hours.

Brent also started Helping Hands Resale Shop in 2010. This non-profit shop gives proceeds to non-profit groups. Including children's groups like scout groups, sports teams, church groups, and more. To date, the shop has given out over 2.5 million dollars to non-profit and mission groups.
