Obituary – Connie K. Stachewicz

Connie, 78, of Chillicothe, Illinois, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Connie devoted her life to her family, finding her greatest joy in her children and grandchildren. She shared her love of cycling and the arts with the next generations, leaving behind a legacy of creativity and adventure. Connie delighted in arts and crafts, creating fairy gardens and teaching her grandchildren the patience and joy of crafting.

Her quirky and fun spirit shone through in everything she did—from her beloved FROGS (“Forever Rely on God”) to her whimsical projects. She found peace in nature, especially sitting by the river and watching the moon, moments that reflected her gentle and reflective soul. Her favorite saying, “Love you to the moon and back, and more than there are stars in the sky” will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved her.

Born on May 6, 1947, in Henry, Illinois, Connie was the daughter of Robert D. Stringer and Wanette Stringer.

Connie is survived by her three children; John Patrick Stachewicz, Michael (Jackie) Stachewicz, and Cori (Josh) Klassen; sisters Chris Baker and Candy Stringer (Dave Noder); six grandchildren Jake, Kylee, Gavin, Maggie, Harmony and Lilly; and two great-grandchildren. She was married to her former husband John Stachewicz, for 24 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Terry Stringer, and her niece Bobbi Jo Marlere.

Connie will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, and unwavering love for her family.

A celebration of life will be held at Calvert & Johnson Memorial Homes in Henry, IL on Saturday December 6 at 11am, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the beautiful life she lived.

“Instead of memorials, in her memory and spirit have lunch with a friend”
