Tim, age 83, of Chillicothe, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria.

Tim was born on August 7, 1942 in Peoria, IL to Irene Mae Jones-Shipman. He married Mary Lou Litterst on October 31, 1964 at St. Bernard’s Church in Peoria. They were high school sweethearts and were married for 60 years.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou; his daughters, Lori Jo (Bob) Libby of Belleville, IL and Tina Jones of Chillicothe, IL; his grandchildren, Kyrie Libby-Sanders of O’Fallon, IL, Patty Clare (Jeff) Libby-Hefner of Collinsville, IL, Tim J. Jones of Chillicothe, IL, Michael J. Libby of Belleville, IL, Helen Libby of Belleville, IL, Catherine Libby of Champaign, IL and her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Pyrrha and Harper. Also surviving are his brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Dennis Litterst, Becky Baum, Steve Muller and Cricket (Rich) Hess; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, his brother, Larry Jones; his sister, Hattie Shipman-Kramer; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ron (Jerri) Litterst; and his sister-in-law, Joanie Litterst.

Tim graduated from Manual High School and became a preparatory foreman for International Paper Company for 33 years, and then worked for OSF Home Infusion Pharmacy for 15 years. Tim was a 50-year member of St. Edward Catholic Church, where he was active in the parish council, the choir, and was a Eucharist Minister. He was a Marriage Encounter Board Member and Chair Couple for the Diocese of Peoria, member of Christ Renews His Parish, TEC, Cursillo #192, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a Charter Member of Valley Lakes Country Club and Pearce Community Center. Tim and Mary Lou were licensed foster parents for 12 years. Tim coached Track for St. Edward School; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling, and was an avid Chicago Bears and St. Louis Cardinals fan.

A Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at 11am at St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe. Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 from 5pm to 7pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe as well as one hour prior to Mass at the church. Cremation rites were accorded and burial of ashes will be held at a future date. Memorials in Tim’s name may be made to St. Edward Catholic Church.
