Obituary – Naomi B. “Sis” Stoner Kennington

Naomi, age 89, of Chillicothe, passed away on October 23, 2025 at Hallmark Healthcare of Pekin.

Naomi was born on August 11, 1936 to Bently and Mildred Stoner. She married Harold Charles “Kooch” Kennington on August 19, 1957 in Henry, IL. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2017. Also preceding her in death are her parents; her brother, Bobby Stoner; her daughter, Sharolyn Kennington; and her son, Shawn Kennington.

Surviving is her daughter, Shannon Kennington of Chillicothe, IL; her grandchildren, Chad Fidler, Miranda (Tyson) Markley, Samantha Fidler, Shane Kennington, and Chrissi Kennington; her grandchildren; her brother, Marshall Stoner of Pekin; and many nieces and nephews.

Over the years, Noami worked for the Chillicothe Library, Dairy Queen, was a delivery driver for Peter’s Floral, and worked in the cafeteria for District 321, both at Illinois Valley Central and Chillicothe Elementary Center, when she retired in 2001. She attended Chillicothe First United Methodist Church and she enjoyed reading, baking and playing cards. Naomi was a kind, generous, and loyal person and will be missed by all who knew her.

Cremation rites were accorded and a memorial visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025 from 2pm to 4pm at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
