Cooking With Vickie Britton – Lets Make Some Easy Apple Bars
Ingredients
- 1 pkg. yellow cake mix (2 layer size)
- ½ cup butter, softened
- 3 to 4 cooking apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1 beaten egg
- 1 cup sour cream
- ¼ cup packed brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Whipped cream
Directions
- •Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
- •In a medium bowl combine your cake mix and butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs
- •Set aside 2/3 cup of the crumb mixture
- •Press the remaining mixture into a 9x13 baking pan
- •Place apples evenly on top of the crumb layer
- •In a small bowl combine your egg and sour cream
- •Spread on top of your apples
- •In a bowl combine your reserved 2/3 crumbs with the brown sugar and cinnamon
- •Sprinkle on top
- •Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until the center is set and apples are tender
- •Serve warm or cold top with whipped cream.
