Cooking With Vickie Britton – Lets Make Some Easy Apple Bars

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg. yellow cake mix (2 layer size)
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 3 to 4 cooking apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Whipped cream

Directions

  • •Preheat your oven to 350 degrees
  • •In a medium bowl combine your cake mix and butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs
  • •Set aside 2/3 cup of the crumb mixture
  • •Press the remaining mixture into a 9x13 baking pan
  • •Place apples evenly on top of the crumb layer
  • •In a small bowl combine your egg and sour cream
  • •Spread on top of your apples
  • •In a bowl combine your reserved 2/3  crumbs with the brown sugar and cinnamon
  • •Sprinkle on top
  • •Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until the center is set and apples are tender
  • •Serve warm or cold top with whipped cream.
