Optimistically Speaking
March…the gateway to spring. I can hardly wait until the crocus and daffodils break through the ground and the grass begins to green.
For the Optimist’s Club, spring means we start gearing up for new programs and fundraisers. Our club rests, but we never sleep...we are always thinking up new ways to serve our youth and our community.
Our next meeting will be at Grecian Gardens Saturday, February 21st from 8-9 a.m. where we will be filling up our calendars with work dates. Here are some of the programs we participate in:
March 3rd some of the members will be out helping at Three Sister’s Park for Spring Planting. The school children arrive by the bus load. If you’ve never been there, it’s very interesting and educational, and they always need plenty of volunteers each year.
April 3rd we will be helping fill thousands of plastic eggs for the City Park’s Easter Egg Hunt. The day before, we will be meeting at the alternative school downtown to fill the eggs. Shirley Loser also needs help putting out the thousands of eggs the next morning.
May 9th we will be having one of our scrumptious Mother’s Day Bake Sales at Picket Fence. Be sure and stop by and pick up something for your get together or just for yourself!
June 2nd–6th finds us volunteering our time at Helping Hands resale shop. Come say hello, shop and donate that week to help us out.
June 12th & 13th is our Flag Day Fundraiser. We will be out in the streets and at some of the businesses selling flags. All donations are used to fund programs and help our community. So everything you donate goes right back to your town to help our youth and make Chillicothe a better place to live.
Quote for the month: “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.”
Remember, stay Optimistic…
It’s the only way to be!
