Optimistically Speaking
Welcome April with warmer weather, green grass, flowers, and budding trees. A renewal of nature before our very eyes.
Quote of the month: You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.

Our guest speaker at our Optimist meeting for March was Donnie Thompson. Donnie shared an update on the spring planting at Three Sister's Park and how this project benefits the kids in our community. You will find some of our Optimist members helping out. Spring planting will take place April 28-30. Call Three Sister's Park to volunteer.
Easter is early this year, and the Optimist club will be helping fill the thousands of eggs for the annual Easter Egg Hunt in City Park. We will be filling the eggs on April 3rd at the IVC Alternative School downtown beginning at 10am. Shirley Loser, who coordinates the hunt each year, will also be putting out all the eggs early the next morning April 4th about 8am. Volunteers are always needed, so come on down and help fill eggs or put them out. Many hands make little work.
Teachers receiving $50 checks for their classrooms were: Jillian Draper – 4th grade at CEC; Lauren Jordan – 7th grade (English, Language, Arts) at Mossville; and Bernadette Bennett – Junior High Science at St. Edwards.
We are always recruiting members to join our efforts to bring out the best in our youth and our town. If you would like to see what we do, come join us for a breakfast meeting on the first or third Saturday of each month at Grecian Gardens at 8am.
