The Chillicothe Voice

Chillicothe Lions Club

Well, it shouldn’t be too far off that you should start seeing the “Mr. Chillicothe” donation containers around places in town for the annual contest that peaks at the Carnival downtown the night of June 19th. The contest usually has 6–8 contestants sponsored by local businesses to help raise money for the Lions Club to give to various needs in the local area.

That night is a really fun time. It starts at 6:30 pm. It has a “business suit” and “swimsuit” contest (all in jest and for fun). During the competition, donations are asked for, but definitely not required. The event is emceed by different personnel, sometimes local, sometimes not. We have had radio personnel help in the past. Either way, the event is a good time for all involved while raising some money for Chillicothe and the local area.

So, if you’re not doing anything that night, please consider heading down to City Park and go to the stage area and cheer your favorite Mr. Chillicothe contestant on! If you would like to donate and help him win, that would be great, and if you would like to help others, and have fun doing it, please consider joining our Lions Club, or possibly one of the other organizations here in town that help out our community and surrounding area.
