The Chillicothe Voice

Optimistically Speaking

It’s summer! Vacations, swimming, picnics, and amusement parks are just some of the things families do during the warm Illinois weather. Our town has some of the most beautiful parks! Make it a priority to get out and go for a hike, a walk, a picnic, or take the kids to the playground or stroll the river walk.

It’s also a busy time for the Optimist’s Club. In May the day before Mother’s Day, we held one of our scrumptious bake sales at Picket Fence. We also held our annual Mr. Chillicothe auction at our May meeting and raised a lot of money for our candidate, Nic Dossett. Go Nic! All the money raised goes to the Lion’s Club to fund great projects they do throughout the year. Be sure and come down to the park for Chillicothe Days June 17-20 and watch the contest, it’s always a hoot!

June 12 and 13 we will be out in force offering our flags for flag day. Look for us on at Grecian Gardens, Kroger, and on the corners at Truitt and Santa Fe and Bradley and Cloverdale. Get a flag or two and make a donation to help fund our scholarships and projects.

Teachers receiving checks this month were:
    • Jennifer Tarabulski – South Early Childhood Education
    • Kiruna Mattson – CEC, 6th grade; and Sydnie Hatch – Mossville, 2nd grade

This month we will only be having one meeting in June on the 6th. Feel free to join us for breakfast at Grecian Gardens at 8am and see what we are all about.

Quote of the month:
“Believe you can and you’re halfway there.”

As always, stay optimistic....it’s the only way to be!
