Students and families across Central Illinois will once again have the opportunity to start the school year with a little extra help thanks to TCC Verizon’s annual School Rocks Backpack Giveaway.
Area participating TCC Verizon stores include:
• Chillicothe – 226 N. Fourth Street
• Peoria – 4125 N. Sheridan Road, Space 5
• Washington – 1873 Washington Road, Suite B
Now in its 14th year, the event has grown into one of the company’s largest community outreach efforts. Since the program began, TCC has distributed more than 1.4 million backpacks to students nationwide. This year, more than 1,219 participating locations will take part, with 125,000 backpacks filled with school supplies being given away.
The 2026 School Rocks Backpack Giveaway will be held Sunday, July 26, beginning at 1 p.m. local time. Backpacks will be available to students of all ages while supplies last. One backpack will be given per student, and students must be present to receive one.

Families are encouraged to arrive early, as supplies are limited and backpacks are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
