Optimistically Speaking

L-R: Jackie Taylor, Optimist President; Tom Davis; Sophia Beaumont; and Johnathan Alexander.

This July we are celebrating our country’s 250 birthday! The United States stands for the ideals of liberty for all, democracy, and equal opportunity. We are rooted in foundational documents like the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution that were based on biblical principles. Never forget that freedom comes at a cost—many men and women gave their lives to keep this country the land of the free and home of the brave.

The Optimist Club hopes you all picked up your flags that we were selling last month and are displaying them proudly. Put them in your yards, at your homes, on your golf cart or vehicle, and take them to the celebration on July 4th at Three Sister’s Park.

Our three $1,000 scholarship winners at IVC this year were Tom Davis, Sophia Beaumont, and Johnathan Alexander. Congratulations!

In July we are looking forward to having a picnic and our monthly meeting at the Duckworth residence.

Look for us at the Sweet Corn Festival on July 25th. We will be having a duck pond with prizes for the kids.

Saying of the month: “Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.”
—Oscar Wilde

Until next month; Stay Optimistic...it’s the only way to be!
